2025 Sczepaniak Spring Lecture Centers on Jane Addams

º£½ÇÉçÇø Hosts 2025 Sczepaniak Spring Lecture on Jane Addams and Housing Reform

º£½ÇÉçÇø invites the community to attend the 2025 Sczepaniak Spring Lecture, featuring historian Ann Durkin Keating, at 7 p.m. on March 27 in the University Dining Room. This free event will explore ’ later years at and her significant contributions to housing reform and urban planning.

Keating, the Dr. C. Frederick Toenniges, professor of history at , will present “Another Twenty-Five Years at Hull House (1910-1935): Jane Addams, Planning, and Housing Reform.”

While much scholarship on Addams, a pioneering social reformer, focuses on her early work detailed in Twenty Years at Hull House, Keating’s lecture will shed light on her continued activism during the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. Attendees will gain insight into Addams’ impact on housing policies and urban planning in Chicago and beyond.

The legacy of Jim and Mary Clare Sczepaniak lives on at º£½ÇÉçÇø through scholarships, enhancements and a history lecture series.
